Adia Attends Daily Breeze People of Distinction Award Dinner
Adia's Co-Founder Nick Arquette was among the nominees honored at the Daily Breeze People of Distinction Award November 10 at the Torrance Marriott. Nick was nominated for all of the volunteerism he and Co-Founder Pamela Penson do in the community in the category of Volunteer of the Year.
Adia is a proud participant in many activities in the community including acting as chair for Networking Matters' Oktoberfest event in October, raising over $12,000 for local charities, Toberman Neighborhood Church and Peninsula Seniors. In addition, Adia hosts many events including community outreach presentations and senior events including the Senior Dance in September hosted by Adia, Providence Little Company of Mary Torrance and both the Torrance and Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerces. Nick is emcees many of these events and has been known to cut a rug on the dance floor!!

"In founding Adia, Pamela Penson and I shared a similar idea, which was that we wanted non-medical, in-home living assistance to be redefined...Adia actually means 'the gift' in Swahili," said Arquette. "Which is what we do - we give each client the gift of a companion, or a friend."

The Salvation Army of Redondo Beach's Michael Mueller and Adia's Nick Arquette were both honored nominees in the Volunteer of the Year category. Mueller, who has cerebral palsy, has been a volunteer for over 24 years and get up at 4 AM every morning.
